Juniper Berries are spicy, sweet, with a piney aroma. They are delicious in stews and soups and with meats (especially wild game). They also give gin its distinctive flavor and are a common flavor ingredient in bitters.Native to the northern hemisphere, it grows everywhere from the artic to tropical Africa and Central America. The best juniper berries, though, are thought to come from southern Europe.
To prepare as a tea, add 1-2 teaspoons of herb to 8 oz water in a pot. Cover and simmer for 15-30 minutes, strain and serve immediately.
