Deep, bold and malty, my Assam is a tea rightly famous for its strength of flavor. It is strong because of the climate in which it is grown.
Combine the sultry, sticky, humid plains of Assam with the wettest and longest monsoon in India and you have the perfect place for those big glossy Assam leaves to thrive.
And it's grown organically, all who live on the estate, from the tea pickers, to the wildlife and of course the tea bushes themselves, can flourish in an environment free of chemical pesticides.
As I always pay a premium for my tea, the tea pickers can use that extra income to invest in things they need, like child care, tree planting and school computers.
Hampstead is a quaint hillside village just a few miles from the bustling center of London. Known for its intellectual, liberal, artistic, musical and literary associations and for the famous Hampstead Heath-a large hilly expanse of parkland. Generations of creative ideas have flourished among lovely tea shops that serve various teas all day long and of course observe the English tradition of afternoon high tea and cakes! It is here that Kiran founded The Hampstead Tea Company to bring to market teas of the highest quality and share her belief that the most enriching moments can be those spent sipping delicious, soul nurturing tea with good friends!
Demeter Organic Biodynamic certification ensures that all our teas are grown using sustainable organic farming methods. These methods reflect a commitment to biodiversity, soil husbandry, livestock integration and the prohibition of genetically engineered organisms.
To get the best from my Assam tea, brew one sachet per person in freshly boiled water for up to 3 minutes. Add milk or cream and sugar to taste.
